Paul Roscoe Hall

March 27, 1920 — March 10, 2015

CORVALLIS - A Bitterroot native, Paul Roscoe Hall, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, MT. Roscoe was born March 27, 1920, in Corvallis, the only child to the late Willard and Lola (Wing) Hall.

He attended schools and graduated from Corvallis High School, the class of 1938. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army, however not before courting the new school teacher in Corvallis. Jane Berland and Roscoe were married June 16, 1943, in Yuma, AZ, while he was stationed in California. Roscoe served in the Philippines during the later part of World War II. He was discharged from the Army in 1946 and returned to the Bitterroot where he lived the rest of his life. He was very proud of his military service and his country.

Roscoe and Jane farmed and ranched east of Corvallis undertaking numerous projects (including dairy, beef, alfalfa seed, potatoes, sugar beets and more) for 30 years. They also raised two sons, Donald and Terry. During this time, Roscoe also managed an International farm equipment dealership in Hamilton.

In later years Roscoe did carpenter work and Jane and Roscoe traveled extensively, much of this time as "Wagonmasters" for RV tours to Mexico, Alaska and New Zealand. He was a man of many talents and interests, including restoring Model A Fords, woodworking, stained glass, gardening, cooking, dancing, reading and keeping up with current events. He was a history buff even participating in the production of the Bitter Root Trails III book. Roscoe's Bitterroot Valley heritage was very important to him.

Jane preceded him in death in 2003 after much of his TLC throughout her illness, even to preparing her specialized diet. He then became very active in the "Golden Agers" and met and enjoyed the company of Mabel Schultz.

Roscoe is survived by his companion of later years Mabel Schultz; son Donald (Nancy) of Corvallis, son Terry (Elaine) of Wibaux, MT; five grandchildren, Gary (Janine), Craig (Kelli), Brian (Krista), Kelly (Elizabeth), Karlee (Brandon) Ausk; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Ravalli County Council on Aging, 310 Old Corvallis Road, Hamilton, MT 59840.
