Darby - Paul L. Lind Jr, 72, of Darby passed away Sunday, August 24th, 2014 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born August 22nd, 1942 in New Port, Rhode Island, the eldest son of Ethel and Paul L. Lind Sr.
- Paul was raised in New Haven, Connecticut and attended Guilford High School in Guilford, Connecticut. In January of 1960, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy, following in the footsteps of his father. After his time in the Navy, Paul attended the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- In 1974, Paul married Mickey Sanders. Paul and Mickey had one daughter, Morgan born in 1974. Paul and Mickey later divorced. In 1976, Paul met Marcia Majors (Robinson) at Lolo Hot Springs while traveling and they fell in love with each other and the Bitterroot Valley where they would move in 1978 and eventually settle for the remainder of their lives together. Paul and Marcia had two children; Jenny born in 1983 and Jacob born in 1986.
Paul was a talented woodworker specializing in cabinets, doors, and furniture. He had an artistic eye and crooked but adept hands that created many masterpieces. His work can be found in homes up and down the valley and elsewhere. Paul devoted a good portion of his life to his sobriety and was actively involved in helping others lead happy, sober lives. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits as well as reading and the occasional game of cribbage but mostly he loved telling elaborate mostly fictional stories while keeping a straight face.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Paul Sr. and by his wife Marcia. He is survived by his daughters Morgan Lind Robinson of Roswell, New Mexico and Jenny Lind of Missoula, and his son Jacob Lind of Darby; two sisters, one granddaughter, one step-granddaughter and many beloved friends.
A celebration of Paul's life and potluck for friends and family will be held Saturday, September 6th at 3pm at the Darby Community Clubhouse.
The family suggest that memorials be made in Paul's name to Aspen Hospice of Montana. 107 Bell Crossing W, Stevensville, Mt 59870.
