Pebble Adair Motley

Hamilton - Pebble Adair Motley, 98, passed away August 11, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Memorial and Palliative Care Center in Hamilton.
She was born to Minnie (Trotter) Adair and Jim Adair on August 6, 1911 in Gather, Arkansas. She was one of twelve children.
She later moved with her family to California during the Great Depression. In 1926, she moved to Western Montana. She met her future husband Donald S. Motley at a dance where he was playing the saxophone in Missoula. They married on August 6, 1931 in Hamilton.
In the late 1930's they were employed by a gold mine up the West Fork at Hughes Creek. Pebble was the camp cook and Don operated the heavy machinery. They later moved to Darby where they owned and operated Don's Service.
After a short period of time of operating a motel in Missoula they returned in 1975 to Hamilton where they retired.
Pebble enjoyed traveling, fine needlework, playing cards and her many friends.
Pebble was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years in 1990, two grandsons, Michael and Greg Motley, her mother and father and eleven siblings.
Surviving Pebble is her only son, Donald G. and wife Nancy of Corvallis; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Ed) Davidson, Scott (Kathy) Motley, Jeff (Vicki) Motley and Erin (Dyrk) Krueger; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
At Pebble's request there will be no services. There will be private interment at a later date at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby.
The family suggests memorials to the MDM Hospice, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840.
