HAMILTON - Peggy Wells Neuman was welcomed into heaven by Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. She was unable to recover from a serious fall. Peggy looked forward to seeing her deceased loved ones.
Peggy was born September 29, 1942, in Missoula to Robert Wells and Katherine (Leibel) Wells. After WWII, the family moved back to Hamilton from Seattle where they lived while Bob was serving in Europe. Gold mining up Nine Mile eventually took them to Frenchtown, where Peggy attended school until 1952 when they returned to Hamilton. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1960. Class reunions and classmates remained dear to her heart.
Peggy moved to Seattle, working at Seattle 1st National Bank, and attending college at night. Her high school sweetheart, Melby Neuman, came to Seattle after his tour in Korea and they returned to Hamilton and were married. She worked at the Ravalli Court House, Bitterroot Plumbing and the Rocky Mountain Lab, as head of glassware until her health gave out.
Peggy and Melby enjoyed fishing, and did so in Juneau and Costa Rica. In earlier years she enjoyed snowmobiling, tending the garden and canning with Melby. In these last years, she loved watching birds and elk from their living room, and visiting their son, Brent.
Survivors are her husband, Mel; son, Brent; sister, Mary Ann (Jerry) Jerome; brother-in-law, Terry (Lorraine) Neuman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Marcus Daly Hospital and Marcus Daly Hospice and staff for all of their excellent care.
