HAMILTON - Raymond J. "Buzz" Ramsey, 84, of Hamilton passed away Monday,
April 9, 2012. He was born July 17, 1927 in Napa, CA to Raymond R. and Georgia
Lillian Ramsey. He grew up in Yountville and graduated from Napa High
School in 1945. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy
in 1952. Buzz worked for many years as a Maintenance Machinist at Kaiser
Steel.
Buzz was a member of Napa Valley Masonic Lodge #93. He became a Master
Mason in 1949 at the age of 22. He remained a member in good standing
for over 50 years.
In 1967 Buzz got his pilots license. His daughter, Julia, had the honor
of being his first passenger, and the two shared many adventures in the
wild blue yonder over the years. Buzz also took up skydiving and
aerobatic flying. In fact, for many years it was almost impossible to
keep Buzzy's feet on the ground.
After his retirement from Kaiser Steel, Buzz opened Gunfire Pistol
Academy. His goal was to provide those with an interest the necessary skills to
safely handle and fire handguns.
Buzz spent the last 20 years in Hamilton Montana. He loved the town and
the people, and made many new friends. While there he became an active
participant and entertainer in Wild West shows, traveling around and
providing exhibitions. It was also in Hamilton that Buzz became
interested in horses. He spent many happy years on the trail with his
horse Amigo. And he was happy just to be at home with Amigo and his
beloved dog Babe.
Buzz was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty and his brother
Warren.
Buzz is survived by his daughter Julia (James) DiRienzo of Napa, CA, his
stepsons Steve (Susan) Mann of Washington, Gary Mann of Yountville, CA,
and his ex-wife Alameda Ramsey of Washington, and his cousin Robert
Ramsey, Jr (Joan) of Vina, CA. He is also survived by his grandson Jeffery Husk
(USN) and his great-grandson Brayden.
The family wishes to thank Buzzy's neighbor and good friend Diane, and
Duain Abbott of Marcus Daly Hospital for their help and compassion in
this difficult time.
At Buzzy's request no services will be held, but a gathering of friends
will be arranged at a later date in Hamilton. Condolences may be left for the family at
