Reanard “Rod” Lawrence, 83 of Hamilton passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center.  He was born December 5, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of the late Reanard R. and Mary Jane (McAllister) Lawrence.

Rod was raised in Sunray, TX and in 1949 severely burned his legs.  Following a year of recovery, he attended Schreiner Institute Military School in Kerrville, TX.  Following graduation, he attended Texas Tech.  He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953.  In 1955, he reported to MCAS El Toro, CA.  He met his future wife Joan Marie Huffman.  They married in Las Vegas, NV on August 24, 1955.  Following his discharge on April 26, 1956, he was employed by Southern California Edison in Whittier, CA and then Lancaster, CA.  It was a lifetime career.  He retired on February 1, 1992 and then moved to Montana.

Rod is survived by his wife, Joan; son, James Bret and wife Michele of Tehachapi, CA.; grandson, Garret Lawrence; daughter, Suzanne Lawrence Rogers of CO.; grandson, Christopher Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 28th at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.  Military honors will be presented by the US Marine Corps, Marine Corps League – Bitterroot Detachment and the Hamilton American Legion.
