Richard "Rich" F. Miller

June 8, 1944 — December 28, 2022

CORVALLIS - Richard Frank Miller, 78 of Rich Miller Properties, in Corvallis, passed away December 27, 2022 at his home. He was born June 8, 1944, in San Pedro, California, the son of Richard Narrel Miller and Esther Kathleen Whittey.

He was raised in Venice, California & moved as a teen to the Manhattan Hermosa Beach area. He graduated from Mira Costa High School, went to The Bahama’s, and worked on a fishing boat catching swordfish. He partied a lot, and ski bummed in Aspen and Mammoth. He had been a car salesman, went real estate school, and worked for a local real estate business before becoming a loan officer, which helped his real estate business.

Always in love with nature, horses, and being a cowboy, Rich moved to the Bitterroot Valley and opened up “Rich Miller Properties” as  broker-owner-GRI, CSR SFR on his horse ranch. He loved training his horses and belonged to Back Country Horsemen. He was very active in AA, helping those who wanted help and would continue helping others. This was his Christian mission in life. He was sober 53 years.

Rich had a bluegrass band, sang, and played guitar. He enjoyed doing musicals, as he could sing as well as act! Rich loved the ocean, enjoyed surfing, sailing, fishing. He also was a private pilot and a certified drone pilot. He liked the edge and overcame the fear of skydiving. He loved hiking in the mountains and camping in the wilderness alone, or with a good friend, or loved to ride his horses and take his pack mule string. Rich grew up with guns and while in the wilderness, was always prepared for the unknown. Yes, he was an athlete.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Miller of Corvallis; older sister, Marilyn Nemeth; aunt, Lois Tabler; niece Catherine Flores; and nephew, Christopher Curry.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Daly-Leach Chapel. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, in Hamilton.
