Richard Lee Garrod

HAMILTON - Richard Lee Garrod passed away on February 3, 2015 in Hamilton, MT due to complications of a recent surgery.

Dick was born at the family home in Corvallis, MT on June 22, 1933 to Ernest and Ruth Garrod and called the Bitterroot Valley home until his passing.

He married JoAnn Mortensen in December of 1954 and they remained married until her death in 2008.

Dick fully enjoyed his retirement and he and Jo were excited about being able to enjoy the "snowbird lifestyle" when she suffered a catastrophic accident in 2004. Despite this life changing event, our father never once waivered, complained, or missed a beat, and true to his strength of character, he took excellent care of our mother until her death.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather and one of the kindest, most considerate men to walk this earth.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruth; his wife Jo; his siblings, Edna, June, and Margaret (Polly); and his son, Rick. He is survived by his daughters Tammy Meuchel (Dan) and RoxAnne Jozwik (Darryl); his granddaughters, Nikki, Cori Jo, Katrina, Ariel, Dannie Gwen; and his grandsons, Kody, Eddie, and Jack.

There will be no services at Dick's request. A private burial with Military honors will be held at a later date. The family suggests any donations be made to the Bitter Root Humane Association (262 Fairgrounds Road, Hamilton, MT 59840).

We so loved you Papa and find comfort in knowing you've gone forward with a joyful heart. We will forever miss you.
