Richard Glyn Holmes

CORVALLIS - Richard Glyn Holmes, 62, of Corvallis passed away after a long illness on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Patrick Hospital. He was born March 6, 1947 in Unadilla, GA the son of Jesse G. and Pauline (Ethridge) Holmes.
Shortly after he was born his family moved to Vienna, GA, where Rich received most of his schooling. He then joined the National Guard and transferred into the US Air Force he served for 4 years. Rich spent 1 year in Thailand, during which in his free time he taught Thai children English, baseball and singing American songs.
On June 24, 1966 Rich married Rita Menager. In 1968 he moved with his wife, Rita, and son, James, to his beloved Bitterroot Valley. He enjoyed hunting, camping, hiking, fishing and most of all being with family and his grandchildren.
Rich worked at Louisiana Pacific for 18 years before becoming interested in antler art and home dcor. He and his wife started Antler Creations in 1983 and continued to operate it for Rich's remaining years until a battle of a 6 year illness over took him. He was a member of the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans.
Rich was thought of so highly and was loved by his family and many friends. He was a God send for all of us. We know he will be at peace and out of pain with God, his son, Steve, his grandson, Justin and his mother, Pauline. Rich was also preceded in death by his father, Jessie Holmes; his sister, Edith Holmes; and a brother who died at birth.
Rich is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rita Holmes of Corvallis; his son, James Holmes and his wife Ramelle of Corvallis; his grandchildren, Nicole, Kaylie and Josh Holmes all of Corvallis; his mother-in-law, Donna Hosko of Hamilton; his sisters, Betty Godfrey and husband Wallace of Vienna, GA, Helen Terpstra of Denver, NC, Francis Raper of Vienna, GA and Judy Johnson of Vienna, GA; numerous nieces and nephews and last, but not least, the dogs, Boomer and Buck.
