Richard Boyes Sorenson

DARBY - Richard Boyes Sorenson, 76, died December 8, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center in Hamilton after a long battle with cancer.  He was born Aug. 9, 1939 in Warren, Minnesota to Willard J. and Genevieve Linn Sorenson.  The family moved to Hamilton when Dick was quite young, where he attended school through the 8th grade.  The family then moved to Missoula where he finished his schooling.

In June 1961 he married Leota Backus and they had two children.  Dick worked at the VanEvan Plywood mill for many years.  They moved to the Corvallis area in 1973 where he began a career building homes and kitchen cabinets for many years in the Bitterroot Valley.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Genevieve and his older brother Robert Linn Sorenson.  He is survived by his wife Leota, his son Daniel of Hamilton and his daughter Tracie (Eric) Lutzenhiser of Poulsbo WA, brother Neil of Post Falls ID, sisters Martha (John) Peterson, Lava Hot Springs, Idaho;  Shirley (Bill) Daack, Dubuque Iowa; Donna (David) Lindberg, Rohnert Park Calif.;  and sister-in-law Ardith Jackson of Stevensville, sister-in-law Sharon Sorenson of Hamilton.

Dick had chosen cremation and no services will be held.  The family suggests contributions to the local animal shelter in his name in lieu of flowers.
