Hamilton, MT - Robert "Bob" Andrew Dyrdahl, 81 died May 16, 2009 of natural causes at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center in Hamilton.
He was born March 26, 1928 in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Andrew and Olive Jack Dyrdahl.
Bob attended grade school and UND in Grand Forks. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served with the 24th Infantry Division in the Far East and was a life member of the Grand Forks, N.D. VFW Post 1874.
One of Bob's enjoyable times in life was traveling the Dog Show Circuit and loving all his Norwegian Elkhounds. He was also an avid airplane and ship model builder which kept him busy after retirement.
Bob married Donna Jacobson on September 4, 1950 in Grand Forks. He worked for Northern States Power Company (Now Excel Energy) for 34 1/2 years, retiring in October 1983. Bob and Donna moved to Victor, MT in the spring of 1984 to be near the mountains he loved so well. They also lived in Florence, MT. and Casa Grande, Arizona, before returning to the Bitterroot in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, infant sister, and granddaughter, Sara Brisben.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna; two sons, Doug (Vicky) of Fargo, ND., Mark of Casa Grande, Arizona, one daughter, Barbara (Michael) Brisben of Bismarck, ND.; four grandchildren, Lance Dyrdahl of Helena, MT., Katie (Shannon) Johnson, Julie (Jason) Dearth and Lisa Brisben all of Bismarck, ND.; four great grandchildren, Anthony, Jordyn, Nash and Alexis.
