Robert "Bob" George Beyer

July 11, 1950 — July 10, 2018

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, one day before his 68th birthday, Robert (“Bob”) George Beyer, passed away while vacationing in Columbia Falls.  Born and raised in Malta, Montana, Bob spent his youth helping at his dad’s service station and in his mother’s garden, along with his three brothers and two sisters.  He graduated from Malta High School then attended the Helena College of Technology where he received his airplane mechanics degree.  Bob worked for two years at the Glasgow Air force Base, and then in 1973 he went to work for The Montana Power Company in the natural gas division in Cut Bank.  He later lived in Big Sandy and Havre before making Butte his home in 1991.  In 2013, Bob retired from Northwestern Energy (MPC) after 40 years of service to the company.

Throughout his life, Bob was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to hunt, fish, water ski and camp with his family and friends.  He especially enjoyed his time hunting and bugling elk with his sons, Dirk and Eric, spending time at Dirk’s cabin with family, and fishing with Eric.   He was a Griz and Packers football fan, winemaker, beer brewer, and camp cook.  In his retirement, he also enjoyed helping his friends with various home improvement projects, working on his own house, and attending his grandchildren’s numerous sporting events.

Bob is survived by his sons Dirk (Teri) Beyer of Hamilton and Eric (Jill Gerdrum) Beyer of Missoula; grandchildren, Royal, Grayden, Sage, Crimson, Greta, and Klara Beyer; siblings, Richard (Debbie) Beyer, Betsy (Arnie) Wirth, Bonnie (Harvey) Nichols, Roger (Bobbie) Beyer, Randy (Jennifer) Beyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents Laverne and Clarence Beyer, and by granddaughter Indigo Beyer.

A memorial service and celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Hamilton, Montana, at the Daly-Leach Chapel.  The family invites you to join them for a reception at the Daly-Leach Chapel following service.  If you wish to do something in memory of Bob, please make donations to the American Heart Association or the Main Street Uptown Butte, Inc.
