Robert "Bud" L. Boyd

HAMILTON - Robert (Bud) L. Boyd, 79, of Hamilton passed away in the early morning hours of 11/04/16.  He was born November 7, 1936 in Hamilton the son of Robert C. Boyd and Leona (Rennaker) Boyd.  Bud is survived by his sisters, Lola Grenfell of Hamilton, MT and Janice Cowles of Boise, ID.  He was preceded by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Grenfell.

Bud worked as a youth for the family produce farm. He served in the Navy from 3/15/56 to 10/16/57 on the USS Nemasket. He married Glorian M. Guse, Sept. 20th, 1958 to 1990.

From the marriage they raised five children, son Randy, Missoula, MT; son Robyn (Marilyn) of Everett, WA; daughter Lori of Semi Valley, CA; daughter Kimberly (John) Holliday of Moorpark, CA; and daughter Dawn (Craig) Hauer of Hamilton, MT.

He was the grandfather of eight grandchildren: Justin, Breeanna, Dillon and Payton Holliday; Nathan, Nicholas and Hayden Hauer; and Sara (Gus) Hoffman-Burns and two great grandchildren: Asa and newborn brother, Johannas Burns.

A native Bitterrooter, Bud worked a wide variety of jobs throughout the valley and Missoula; Erickson Drive Thru Furniture, Evans Furniture, Hamilton Bowl, Hamilton Golf Course maintenance, FOE (Eagles) bar manager, Signal Bar Haight’s. He was a very skilled at floor mechanics, laying carpet, vinyl flooring, countertops and bathroom tiles, doing projects in local businesses and homes. He was a MT licensed card dealer and served 20 years as a Hamilton Volunteer Firefighter.

A Bitterroot Native, Bud enjoyed the outdoors; played 30 and over softball and was an umpire for the women’s leagues. Bud loved to hunt and fish, had a life long love of sports and he enjoyed bowling with the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department team, while also serving as secretary of the men’s bowling league.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for care and services to the staff of the Marcus Daly Hospice Care and the Daly-Leach Chapel. A close family memorial will take place at a later date.
