Rodney Hudson, 55, of Fallon, MT died of cancer, March 13, 2011 at Community Medical Center in Missoula.
He was born May 4, 1955 in Auburn, WA to Vergil and Lois Hudson. Rod graduated from high school in 1973 from Middleton, ID.
At age 20, Rod moved off the family farm in Middleton, Idaho to Moses Lake, WA where he leased his first plot of land to raise cattle and put up hay. He moved to California in 1985 to work 10 months hauling equipment into warehouses. In 1988, Rod moved to Seeley Lake with his family to work as a manager. In 1989, he moved to Winthrop, WA to run a 400 head cattle operation. In 1995, Rod moved the family to Hamilton, MT. In 2003, he raised cattle of land lease from the Hyatt family. In 2007, Rod moved to Fallon and was a key part of establishing the "Last Drink Ranch".
Rod served 2 years as director of a Washington Cattleman's Association. He worked with the Montana Cattlemen's Association district 2 director for 2 terms and district 9 director in 2010 as well as working for the Bitterroot Valley Stock growers. He was president for 2 years of the Bitterroot Chapter Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his father Vergil.
Surviving include his daughter Jessica and fiancAC. Scott Anderson; son, Tim; mother, Lois; and brother David.
The Montana Cattleman's Association is hosting a Benefit Auction / Dinner reception at the Fort Owen Inn, Stevensville, MT on March 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., tickets are available at the door.
