Ronald Corbett passed away peacefully in San Marcos, Texas, on May 3, 2026, at the age of 96.
A man of boundless energy, intelligence, and global vision, Ronald’s life reflected the enduring spirit of a Scottish farm boy who never forgot his roots. Born and raised in Scotland, he carried his heritage—and his unmistakable Scottish accent—across continents throughout his life. His genius for engineering was recognized early by his schoolmaster, helping him earn admission to Glasgow Technical College.
Ronald’s career as both an electrical and mechanical engineer was defined by innovation and scale. Throughout his life, he contributed to major projects around the world, including dams in Spain, steel mills in Italy, propulsion systems in Germany and Japan, missile systems, aircraft, wind turbines, and other critical infrastructure projects across multiple continents.
He possessed an endless curiosity about the world and never stopped learning. Over the years, he learned Spanish, Italian, German, and some Japanese. He earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying as a lifelong passion alongside boating, hiking, folk dancing, and international travel.
In retirement, Ronald returned to a quieter life that reflected his upbringing, raising sheep on his farm in Corvallis, Montana, folk dancing with his wife, Glory, spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling to Great Britain to reconnect with his beloved family and lifelong roots.
Ronald was known for his spirited Scottish personality, his recitation of Robert Burns poetry, his remarkable ability to fix nearly anything, and a warmth and humor that could light up any room.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annabell Corbett; his brother, Ian Corbett; and his beloved wife and partner of 44 years, Glory Corbett.
Ronald is survived by his sisters, Nan McKenzie and Helen Le Riche; his son, Ronald Brian Corbett (Joni); and his wife, Glory’s, children, Nathan Knopf (Amy) and Katie Rogers (Frank); his grandchildren, Alec Corbett (Kathryn), Halle Corbett, Stephen Aiello, Jake Belleisle (Taylor), and Emmie Belleisle; and his great-grandchildren, Aja Aiello, Azalea Corbett, Charlie McRae, and Audrey McRae, in whom his likeness and spirit clearly live on.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14th at the Daly-Leach Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 15, 2026 at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.
