Corvallis - Ronald “Butch” Eugene Barker, 81 of Corvallis passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Miles City VA Nursing Care.

Butch was born April 14, 1942 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Robert and Ruth Hilgren Barker. He came to the valley at 3 months old. He attended Hamilton High School and following his education he went into the Logging Industry.  In 1965 he entered the US Army, served in Vietnam, and was discharged in 1967.

He met Joanna Paul during one of his downhill skiing trips at Lost Trail and they were married March 30, 1984.  He enjoyed cooking for the China painting class and his family, Ranch work and operating the Bale Wagon.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Fire Chief in Darby, a member of the Corvallis Methodist Men’s group, a member of the “Tired Iron Group” and Commander of the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Raymond, Lorraine Fries and Margee Mason; a nephew Nick Barker and Stepson Vincent Paul.

Butch is survived by his wife Joanna; brother, Bob (Robin) Barker; stepchildren, Cheri (Bob) Paxton, Diana (Dan) Paul, Mike (Suree “A”) Paul and Shelly Paul; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of butch’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 6, 2023 at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. Military honors will be presented by the US Army and Corvallis American Legion. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
