Ronald B. Hallock

May 6, 1945 — November 26, 2014

Ronald "Ron" Bates Hallock, 69, of Corvallis, MT passed away Wednesday, November 26th, 2014. He was born May 6, 1945 in Valentine, Nebraska.

Ron is the son of Graydon and Marjorie Hallock. He graduated as Valedictorian of his high school in 1969 in Winner, SD. His family moved to Montana in 1969. He graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor's in Art and Mathematics. He enjoyed playing for the Griz football team and running cross-country while working hard on his parent's ranch. He later earned a second Bachelor's degree in Education. In 1970 he traveled to Seville, Spain to teach and study abroad. He studied and became a riding instructor in Spain and France. This is where he met Dee Ruth Rippberger for the first time. He taught her how to ride a horse and was her math teacher. They stayed friends for many years to follow. On July, 28, 1978 Ronald married Dee in Rapid City, SD. During the service there was a great thunderstorm and after the service there was a magnificent rainbow. He loved to tell everyone that was God's way of saying they were meant to stay together for the rest of their lives.

Ron dedicated his life to helping and teaching others. He found his passion in teaching his daughters and many others how to ride horses, working in his large garden, spending time in the outdoors of Montana, and creating beautiful works of art. He always encouraged his daughters to do their absolute best in everything and he was always in their corner cheering. Anyone who ever met Ron knew how much he loved to brag about his girls. Ron gave so much of himself to take care of his family and the community. He touched countless lives with his knowledge and generosity. He gave free riding lessons to 4-Hers over the span of 25 plus years. It was easy to hear his voice loud and strong telling his students to "get your heels down", "sit up straight" and "reach up with your hands!" Once his students understood his instruction, he was even louder with excitement for their success and progress. He also enjoyed teaching art in the Daly Leach Memorial Chapel. He helped students young and old with a few simple techniques, grow into their own style and appreciated art of any kind. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in heaven by his parents, Graydon B. Hallock Sr. and Marjorie Millard Hallock, and his brother, Graydon B. Hallock. Ron is survived by his wife Dee, five daughters, Talitha, Jennifer, Cristi, Jessie, and Lorelei and 7 grandchildren, Trinity, Trenton, Hunter, Charlotte, Augustus, Brogan and Harrison. He is also survived by his sisters, Judy, Pam and Nancy.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the 4-H horse program.
