Ronald James Lewis

July 10, 1945 — January 17, 2012

DARBY - Ronald James Lewis, 66, of Darby passed away peacefully at home with friends and family by his side. He was under the care of his daughter, Brenda, and Marcus Daly Hospice.

Ron was born July 10, 1945 in San Mateo, California to Alfred and Doris (Wetzsteon) Lewis and grew up attending Catholic schools in various towns in California.

He was gifted in all he did and excelled in sports, especially, baseball and basketball. From a small boy he had a love for hunting and fishing, so after graduating from high school he moved to his Mother's birthplace (the Bitterroot Valley) where he continued his love of sports by playing on the town baseball and basketball teams.

Ron married Charlene Maydole in 1965 and they had three daughters; Brenda, Brianna and Kelley. They later divorced, but always stayed in touch.

Ron worked at the Connor Sawmill until it burned down. He then worked as a hunting and fishing guide for several years in Egegik, Alaska. He, also, guided wild pig hunts on Catalina Island in California where he met many special people whom he stayed in touch with over the years. He then started his own heavy equipment and gravel business that he worked at until his health failed.

Ron enjoyed deep sea fishing in Mexico in the winters whenever he had the chance. He loved
taking his grandkids on hunting and fishing trips and gave most of them a hunting rifle on their 12th birthday. His grandkids will have many fond memories of these trips that will last a lifetime.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred (Jack) and Doris (Wetzsteon) Lewis; and his sister Janet. He is survived by Irene Brown, his faithful partner for 33 years; he is also survived by his children, Brenda Pervais (Mark Madruga), Brianna (Greg Wilson) and Kelley Lewis; grandchildren, Austin and Jake Wilson, Brekkan Greene, Jazmin Pervais, Levi, Chance, Benny, Brandi, KCee, Jed, Jackson, Dakota, Reyel, Skyler and Tristan Brown and Cole Sturgis; brothers, Carroll (Roxanne), Robert and George Lewis and sister Brenda Fisher; several nieces and nephews; his extended family, Ric (Candy) Brown, Rod Brown (Cory), Randy Brown, Reed Brown (Kathy), Rocci Brown (Laurie) and Dawn (Mike) Richie.

Ron left us all too soon; our hearts will ache and we'll miss him always, especially, his
sense of humor and the fun he had playing pranks on people.

The family suggests memorials to Marcus Daly Hospice or donor's choice.
