Roseanne "Rosie" Standley Young, 77, passed peacefully on January 27, 2012 in Gig Harbor, Washington.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 at Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton, Montana where she will rest near her mother and father. She is returning home to the Bitterroot Valley, where she went to grade school, participated in 4-H, Rainbow Girls, and a school cheerleader, before moving to Missoula, graduating from Missoula County High School 1953, and U of M, X-ray Technician Program at St. Patrick's Hospital.
She was born September 15, 1934 in Butte, Montana, to Anne M. and F. Bryan Standley, always close to her family: brother, Roy Standley, sister, Donna Standley Dahlgren and her loving grandparents (Stephens) who shared her family home.
She married Jack A Young, followed by the birth of her children; Tracy, Joe, Todd and Tim Young, She was a Missoula Jayceen, and a member of the Episcopal Church. She enjoyed many close friends, family gatherings, Flathead Lake, snow skiing, and playing bridge. Jack and Rosie moved their family to Eugene, Oregon in 1970, they settled permanently in Beaverton Oregon where she spent the majority of her formidable years.
She shared her angelic voice in celebrations, choirs, "Sweet Adeline's" and family gatherings throughout her life. To her siblings, friends, children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren the remembrance of her laughter, singing and the warmth of her smile will remain in our hearts. Her name defined her essence in many ways.
She worked as an X-ray technician off and on while she raised her family, which suited her caregiving nature. She later pursued her interest in floral design, always creative in her ability to bring flowers and furnishings to life. She loved her visits to Southern California to visit her sons, traveling, her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to return home to Hamilton to see her family and attend her class reunions in Missoula.
Rosie is survived by her brother B. LeRoy Standley; sister Donna Dahlgren (Doug); children, Tracy Vandewall, Joe Young (Daisy), Todd Young (Karen), Tim Young; grandchildren, Abbie Barnes, Bryanna Young, Brad Bryan Vandewall, Ashley Ann Vandewall, and great granddaughters Layla and Violet, her Aunt Flora Stephens as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved with all her heart.
