Roy T. Stricklan, Jr. 69 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center as the result of cancer due to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam.
He was born October 10, 1943 in Salmon, Idaho to the late Roy T. and Margaret Stricklan Sr. Following his completion of High School he enlisted in the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Seminole.
He married Chris Stricklan. Roy worked for the Boeing Company for 32 years. He always felt so fortunate to come back to this area where the best fishing in the world was. Roy also loved Elk and bird hunting. Roy was a professional guitar player and played with the "Little Brothers Band" at many of the local nursing homes.
At last a grown man, Roy purchased an Arabian colt. He called him "Bucky." All the cowboys knew for sure he would end up being Roy's worst enemy. But, Roy offered up his friendship and they were best buddies for years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving include his wife Chris; brothers, John Stricklan of Salt Lake City, UT., William Stricklan of Salt Lake City, UT., and Robert Stricklan of Rose Lake, ID.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:30 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. There will be a reception following in the funeral home's community room. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
