Ruth Naomi Fisher (Gram), of Corvallis, MT passed away of natural causes on Monday, Dec. 22nd, 2025 at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 11 days. She was born to George Thomas Lewis and Beatrice Cecilia Lewis on May 11, 1935 in Pontiac, Michigan. At the time of her birth, she would have been her parents’ 7th child and ultimately, she would have 10 siblings; all born of the same father and mother.

She grew up in Michigan where she shared fond memories of her siblings and their long summer days at the “lake house”. She often recalled fishing with her father and a sibling or two late into the night on a small rowboat style vessel. They would spend hours on the quiet of the lake, under the stars and moon as Gram would recall. The only sound would be the gentle lapping of water against the boat and the “plop” of her dad’s tackle as he performed another cast. She would smile at the memory of her dad “shushing” her and her brothers if they were too loud and scaring the fish. Her day times would be filled with mischief and swimming. Making up games and staying outside in the humid heat. They were not allowed to spend much time in the house when they had the whole outside to frolic and play.

In 1952, Gram gave birth to her only child, William Thomas Fisher. She and Bill moved to Montana to start a life with the help of her sister. It was in Conrad, MT where she met and married Robert (Bob) Fisher and assumed the role of a rancher/farmer’s wife. Gram adored the western lifestyle and spoke beautifully of the areas as the “prairie”. The family owned a sizable plot of land and did their best to cultivate this lifestyle. She and Bob later divorced and she moved across the continental divide to the Bitterroot Valley. She fell in love with the mountains and was in awe with the colors of the seasons. She always took time to pause and appreciate the landscapes in which she lived.

She made Corvallis, MT her home although she lived up and down the “valley” throughout different times of her life. She made a career of caring for others. She worked as an “in-home health care provider” traveling to the homes of the elderly where she could care and nurture those who could no longer do so themselves. She often said she felt it was a “calling” and a need that too often went unmet. She eventually bought a 4-plex apartment where she tried her hand at rental properties. And right next door, she purchased two homes that she renovated and converted into Mountain View Care Home. For the majority of her working life, she was in the business of serving people as she felt this was God’s choice for her.

Gram was a faithful servant to God. She often quoted scripture and referred to biblical teachings when philosophizing about life or reprimanding her grandkids for any wrongdoings. Which, by the way, was something only she was allowed to do. For if others were to speak ill of her family, she was a vivacious and staunch protector. Beware of her tongue lashing if you were ever to ridicule her family.

As age set in and her health started to slip, she sold her home in Corvallis and moved north to the Mission Valley where family could help her manage. As a great story teller, she spent much of her time with family, recalling the wonder, beauty and appreciation she had for her life. She spoke with passion, detail and the yearning for days past. Gram appreciated the life she had, the family who shared it with her and the memories that gave her the greatest pleasure.

Gram was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Beatrice Lewis; Her siblings: Forest, Grace, Joseph, Marcella, Alger, Martha, Bruce, Delos and JoAnn; Her son: William (Bill) Fisher; Granddaughter: Jessica Fisher. She is survived by her baby brother; Alfred Francis Lewis; grandchildren: Bobby Fisher (Candace) of Conner, MT; Ryan Fisher (Jennifer) of Ronan, MT; Bradley Fisher (Jennifer) of Polson, MT; James “Jimmy” Fisher (Shaney) of Darby, MT; numerous great grandchildren and a special blessing of great-great grandchildren: Stella Norell Fisher, Ruth Marcella Reign Cordova and Knoxin James Bud Nielson.

At her wishes, Gram was laid to rest next to her son, Bill, in the Corvallis Cemetery on Tuesday, December 23rd. A family graveside memorial was held on Monday, December 29th. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
