Ruth Louise Gates

Ruth Louise (Ferrel) Gates lived to be 93 years of age. She resided with her son Sonny in Bonner Montana at the time of her passing. She was born June 25, 1929, in Franklin Pennsylvania to Walter Ferrel and Evelyn (Shreckendgust) Ferrel.  On June 28, 2022, Ruth peacefully passed away due to natural causes. Ruth lost her father Walter Ferrel at a young age while tending to the family farm in Michigan and shortly thereafter moved back to Missoula with her mother Evelyn Ferrel, and her brother and sister. She then met Irvin Gates in the Bitterroot valley and they married May 17th 1946. They were happily married until the passing of Irvin on February 8th, 2001. Ruth was a hard working woman who loved her family and wrote her own story. She is survived by Janette and Ray Sessions of Stevensville, James and Linda Gates of Roundup,  Claudette Sexton of Stevensville, Irvin (Sonny) Gates of Missoula, Jace and Michele Gates of Denver NC and Jan and Mary Gates of East Missoula, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a few great/great grandchildren.
