Sherryl Lou (Guse) Foster

February 25, 1952 — October 18, 2015

HAMILTON - Sherryl Lou (Guse) Foster, 63, peacefully passed away, while surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Providence Saint Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Sherryl was born in Hamilton to John and Erna Guse on February 25, 1952. As a young teenager, she worked at Hamilton Bowl, Ham-Mont Eggs and Gambles. Sherryl attended Hamilton Schools where she met her future husband Bruce Foster.

In 1969, Sherryl and Bruce married in Hamilton. Their son David was born in Hamilton and later, their daughter Kandace, was born in Astoria, Oregon. Bruce worked at Fairway Market and Safeway in Hamilton, later moving to Seaside, Oregon where he continued working for Safeway until he retired after 25 years.

In 1971, Sherryl was diagnosed with MS and endured this condition for 44 years. Because of the MS, Sherryl was a stay at home mom which allowed her to spend extra time with her children while they grew up. When son David was young, Sherryl drove the car while he delivered papers. David later did the driving for Sherryl for her to run errands when she could no longer drive. Sherryl also enjoyed baking and taught Kandace to cook and bake, especially apple pies.

While in Oregon, Sherryl loved watching the whale migration at the Seaside cove and catching salmon at a nearby fish hatchery that had wheelchair access. Sherryl loved country music, hummingbirds, flowers, especially roses, watching TV, getting new clothes and being a grandma.

In 2003, Bruce and Sherryl returned to the Bitterroot to reside in their ‘mountain home’ where Sherryl and Bruce enjoyed watching the wildlife from their living room window. Bruce was Sherryl’s constant caregiver and her “ROCK”.

Sherryl was preceded in death by her parents, John and Erna Guse and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband Bruce of 46 years; son David Foster (Traci) and grandchildren Alex (16) and Casey (8); daughter Kandace Nichols (Sean) and grandson Graden (19), serving in the US Air Force; siblings, Glorian (Thom) Ainsworth; Ronald (Mary) Guse and  Myra (Buzz) Greenup; numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family.

A celebration of Sherryl’s life will be held at the home of Thom & Glorian Ainsworth, 196 Carriage Road, Hamilton, on Friday, October 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
