Shirley Ilene Mcquaid

Corvallis - Shirley Ilene McQuaid passed away in Missoula at the Saint Patrick heart institute intensive care unit July 22, 2015 after having open heart surgery some 11 years earlier.

Shirley was born in Gordon, Nebraska April 5, 1941 from her mother, Mildred Braunersrither and father Fred Kruger and is survived by her husband, John "Mac" McQuaid of Corvallis, Montana and sister, Bonnie Ebsen of Aurora, Colorado. Shirley has family members who have gone before her including both parents; brother, Leonard Kruger; sister, Betty Kruger

Shirley will be greatly missed by family and many friends acquired in the Bitterroot Valley in the past 30 plus years since moving to Montana from northwest Colorado. Shirley spent her youth growing up on a cattle ranch in the Sand Hills of north central Nebraska. She and her brother and sisters saw the evolution from a one room school house, coal oil lanterns and horse drawn farm equipment to REA power and diesel tractors.

Shirley had a special spot in her heart for little children. She was always kind and considerate of their needs. She has spent endless hours tutoring and helping those needing a little extra help learning and progressing. Shirley was always ready and willing to help others and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the past 30 plus years.

After marrying her husband in Glenwood Springs, Colorado they lived in Vail, Colorado for several years when Vail was in the early years. After Vail the couple moved to Craig, Colorado and spent several years on a small ranch. The couple finally settled in the Bitterroot Valley in 1982 until her last days.
