Steven Allen Abbey (Orr), 61, of Hamilton, MT, joined our Father in Heaven following complications from pneumonia Oct. 30, 2014 at St Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
In his final days, Steve was surrounded by the love and comfort of his survivors, mother, Patricia Orr, father, Bob Orr and his wife, Myrna Orr, sister, Diane and her husband, John Maline, brother, David Orr, cousin, Delbert Abbey, his Aunt Donna and Uncle Bill Kyle and cousin, Cher Kyle.
Immediate survivors are his precious daughters, Shawna Sanderson, Crystal Baugh, son, Rick Orr, 5 granddaughters, 6 grandsons and niece Jennifer Orr all of California. Survivors also include brothers, Lenny and Robby Orr, nephews, Jeremiah, Jimmy, Ron, Joe, niece Tina who lovingly called him "Uncle Tease" David's wife Judy and cousins from the Abbey/Kyle side of the family.
Those who precede him in death are: father, Lloyd Abbey, cousin, Donald Abbey, and all grandparents on the Abbey, Orr and Lochridge sides of the family.
Born in Thermopolis, WY May 8, 1953, Steve lived in Darby until he was age 11 at which time he moved to Lincoln, MT with his mother and siblings, Diane and David. His mother married Bob Orr who had two sons and the two families merged together as one.
In the beginning of his career, he worked on ranches then worked several years as an orderly at Warm Springs State Hospital before moving to California. He then hauled sheet rock in the San Francisco Bay area. His first television debut came when he lost a load of sheet rock on the Golden Gate Bridge during rush hour traffic. His worn out shoulders told the tale of his many hours of hard work. Although logging was the job of his choice, Steve worked on construction jobs, as a heavy equipment mechanic and most recent as a machinist.
A born comedian, Steve could make any situation hilarious. His imitations of others and quick witted comments donated hours of laughter to all who knew him. Being an avid reader, he was a walking encyclopedia and enjoyed talking about the many things he had learned. His joys aside from family and friends were playing music, fishing, camping, woodworking and just plain working. When he was younger he was an excellent sketch artist and his wood working and art boasted his many talents.
