HAMILTON, MT.
Steven A. Fontana, 40, of Hamilton passed away suddenly on Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 4, 1970 in Gloucester, Virginia, the only child of Anthony Fontana and Jean (Brumley) Fontana.
Steve was raised in Gloucester, Virginia, and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1988. He attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk for two years and graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1992 with majors in English and Drama. He moved to Montana in 2004 to be near his parents.
Steve worked as a chef and was employed at several different restaurants and lodges both in Hamilton and Whitefish. In addition to his love of cooking, he was an avid reader. He also enjoyed writing, woodworking and animals.
He is survived by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by a very good friend, Diana Sawyer, and their dog, Rusty.
Daly-Leach Chapel is in charge of cremation. There will be a memorial service at a later date in the mountains of Virginia.
