HAMILTON - Sue A. Wetzsteon, 76, of Hamilton passed away Thursday, January 14th at her home. She was born in El Dorado Springs, MO, August 14th 1933 to Mitchell Stephenson and Zeffie Stephenson Hilgren.
She moved to Montana at age 3 and was raised in the Bitterroot Valley. She graduated early, as valedictorian of her class, from Hamilton High School in 1951. That same year, she married her husband of 59 years, Gene Wetzsteon.
Sue worked and lived with her family in Hamilton. In 1975, she retired from the Forest Service as director of Personnel.
A devoted mother, she enjoyed keeping her house and garden, and was highly involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took pride in their accomplishments and always made herself available.
In her leisure time, Sue was an avid card player, a bowler, and lover of her pets including several cats, German Shepherds and Pomeranians.
Sue is survived by her husband Gene, children Cheri Barry and husband Rick, Vicki White and husband Dan, and Lonnie Wetzsteon and wife Susan; as well as grandchildren Chris, Chad, Sky, Nick, Ali, Cory, Andy and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Sue's name to the Bitterroot Humane Association (262 Fairgrounds Rd, Hamilton, MT 59840) or to the charity of the donor's choice.
