HAMILTON - Sybil A. Hoersting, age 91, of Hamilton, MT passed to a new life free of pain on Mar. 15, 2011. Family, church members, and the staff and residents of Discovery Care Centre cared for her as heart failure in her last days brought Sybil to the end of a wonderful life.
Sybil was born in Fargo, ND on Jan. 31, 1920 to Paul and Sabina Becker of German and Irish descent respectively. After living in Wheeler, Havre, Geraldine and Shelby, MT, she moved to Riverside, CA with her family and soon met Charles Hoersting. They were married in 1938 and lived happily until Charles passed to Heaven after 55 years as man and wife.
Sybil chose a Cosmetology Course in Pomona, CA which she completed and as a licensed beautician; she operated her own shop with one of her fellow students in Corona, CA. She also helped Charles, who served in the U. S. Navy before World War II, was a general contractor, sold real estate, and was a building inspector and city councilman. Sybil entertained, watched the kids, and took on home projects. In 1961, they moved to Bishop CA, where they built and operated two motels. Sybil eventually moved to Hamilton in 2001.
She loved to prepare for family camping trips for numerous weekend and summer-long tent or trailer adventures in the Sierras, Rockies, and along the west coast. In retirement Sybil traveled extensively to all the states she had not seen yet leaving only Wisconsin unvisited. -
Sybil enjoyed playing Gin Rummy, knitting, working crosswords, and was a pro at scrabble. She enjoyed civic clubs such as the Elks.
Sybil was preceded in death by her husband; son, Chuck; grand-daughter, Kristy; sisters, Angeline and Merice; and brothers, Bud, Bob and Denny.
Survivors include children, Bob Hoersting, Cathedral City, CA, Laurel Keithley (Austin), Hamilton, MT, Dennis Hoersting (Cyndi), Bishop, CA; Siblings, Leora Gix, Grants Pass, OR, Charmaine Lewis, Norco, CA, Bunny Seghetti (John), Reno, NV, Lanny Becker (Rita), Tyler, TX, (Ida Becker) and (Norma Becker); 15 grandchildren, (includes spouses); 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Friends that often stopped to see Sybil are; Sara Challacomb, Pat Taylor, Alice Uhde, Bev Devine and Peggy Grisham.
