HAMILTON - Tamis A. McCullough La Salle (Tammy), 52, of Hamilton, Montana passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Patrick's Hospital of complications from a 10 year battle of breast cancer, surrounded by the love of her children and family members. She was born Nov. 23, 1960 in Zweibruecken, Germany, to the late Lemuel and Carol McCullough.
Tammy was the second of three children. Due to her fathers' service in the United States Air Force, her family moved seven times before she reached High School. Upon completing Mt. De Sales Catholic High School in Macon, GA, Tammy attended Georgia Southern University. As a student, she had the opportunity to move to Brussels, Belgium, where her mother became a teacher at Brussels American School. A chance encounter at a bus stop in Brussels she met her future husband, Michael La Salle, who was also a football coach at BAS. They later eloped to Copenhagen, Denmark on Aug. 4, 1986. Her greatest pride and joys came shortly thereafter: Aaron, Alysha and Averyl.
While in Belgium, Tammy was employed by the FAA and NATO military delegation as well as a full-time mother. She and her close friend, Amanda Hicks, founded and developed Small Fry Day Care Center in Ixelles. Later she became Mike's business partner and ran the Pony Espresso Enterprise in Brussels and Waterloo.
In 1999 Mike and Tammy moved to Hamilton, MT to be nearer Mike's parents in their later years. In Hamilton, Tammy worked for the County Clerk and Recorders Office before becoming an insurance agent in Missoula. She was a member of the Hamilton School Board for eight years and ardent supporter of her children's activities, soccer in particular.
Tammy was preceded in death by her parents Lem and Carol. She is survived by her husband Mike of Hamilton; three children, Aaron of Ray, ND, Alysha of Bozeman, MT, and Averyl of Great Falls, MT; two step-children, Jael of Olympia, WA, and Zachary of Kalispell, MT; three grandchildren, Porter, Heather and Preston; and two brothers, Tim and Ted McCullough of Macon, GA.
