It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Terence McCrea of Hamilton. Terence was born to James Wilson McCrea and Ruth Geisler McCrea in 1954. He passed away on January 18, 2026.
Terry graduated from Pacific High School in California in 1972. Terry worked hard all his life as a support staff employee at S. Lake Tahoe Casinos and as a campus security officer at John Muir Junior High School and Pacific High School. He worked in his long-desired position as an Oakland Police Officer from 1981 until he retired in 2000. This included working in the Bureau of Field Ops, criminal investigation, vice, and special operations.
Terry had many adventures. His passions included playing guitars, Leonberger dogs, traveling, skiing, national parks, and Harley Davidsons. He was a proud member of Los Carnales La Familia Motorcycles Club and enjoyed competitive shooting with the Bitterroot Blasters. These tremendous people were all beloved friends who shared our love of Terry.
Terry was generous, caring, and always willing to help others. Thank you, Lord, for making Terry the man he was. We are all blessed to have known him.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruth McCrea. He is survived by his siblings, Jim, Patrick, Michele, Cindy, Lisa, and Peggy, along with a vast group of wonderful friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
We will lay Terry to rest with his dogs, Jasper, Harley, Chief, and DJ, in some of his favorite places. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA.
