VICTOR - Thomas James "Bud" Carmello put on his Heavenly Welding Helmut and peacefully exited this world on Sunday, 12/15/2024. Bud was born on 8/27/1933 in Stockdale, Pa. He wore many hats during his 91 years, but he always referred to himself as a welder. Bud married Gayle (Pierson) on 7/10/ 1970 and they started building a life together. Moving to the Bitterroot in 1977, he was most proud of having his own shop and business, Big Sky Muffler & Welding on Hwy 93 N of Woodside, building his own house on Meridian Rd., and serving his Country as a Corporal during the Korean War.
Bud was preceded in death by his Mother Alice, Brother Don, Sister-in-law Bea, Nephew Don (Terri), Niece Alice (Pip), and Grandnephew Jason. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54+ years Gayle . Bud loved being an Uncle and he was good at it. His caring and generosity always came with a bit of advice and comment as the following would attest to. Nephews John (Bethe), Joe, & Jeff Carmello; Grandnephews Josh & Dusty Carmello; Grandnieces Suzanne (Nick) Marcin & Jessica (Chad) Buchanan; Great Grandnephews Abel Carmello; Great Grandnieces Grace & Lilly Carmello; And the unabashed and unashamed apples of his eye, Great Grandniece Ellidae Marcin and Great Grandnephew Ian Marcin.
Two young men have been a constant in our lives these last few years, helping out on almost a weekly basis, loving and caring for us; Dusty Carmello and "adopted" Nephew Mitch Buyak, both from Stevensville, Mt.
Many of Bud's friends have passed on but a few most notable remain; Bill & Nancy Roschi, Rob & Missy Harris, Roy & Elsie Mears, & Bill Scott.
Heartfelt thank you for your above and beyond caring and affection to Dr. Mantey, Heidi, Shelley and the staff of the Hamilton VA Clinic. Shout out also to Dr. John James and staff of the Grant St. Clinic and St. Patrick Hospital's ER, Third and Fifth floor nurses and staff.
Partner's In Home Care shepherded Bud through his last days at home hospice. Dru, Deb, and staff are amazing. And finally thank you to Bill and Daly-Leach for taking care of Bud with dignity and helping me navigate these past few days with care and concern.
Bud's ashes will be interred at the Western Montana State Veteran's Cemetery in Missoula, Mt. on December 27, 2024 at 11:00AM.
