HAMILTON - Thomas Franklin Regan, 87, passed away November 25, 2013 at Community Medical Center in Missoula. He was born and raised in Anaconda, MT and enlisted in the Navy 1944, where he became an Aviation Metalsmith. He married Eleanor Gross in 1949 and moved to Missoula where he attended the University of Montana.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local 28, and often traveled to Carpentry Conventions as a delegate. He was also a millwright. After retiring from the Job Corps, where he was a Carpentry Instructor, Tom finally got to use his pilot's license. He built a hangar and three aircraft and enjoyed the company of his many friends at the Ravalli County Airport.
Tom loved to fish and do woodworking. He built a lodge and cabins for an outfitter in Alaska. Tom was also an avid hunter and killed a cow elk at the age of 83.
He is survived by children Richard of Las Vegas; Lucinda (James) Wolfe of Virginia Beach, VA; Suzanne (Robin) Hawkinson of Stevensville, MT; Gary (Noelle) of Bullhead City, AZ; Jane (Loren) Long of Franklin, NC; grandchildren Heather, Cody (Nicole) and Levi (Charlene) Hawkinson, Regan and Graham Long; three great-grandchildren Layney and McKinley
Hawkinson, Milan Hawkinson and two step-grandchildren Jackson and Madison Spencer.
At Tom's request, his ashes will be scattered over his beloved mountains and no services are planned. Memorials may be made in his name to Trapper Peak Job Corps.
