MISSOULA - Todd E. Tibbetts, 44, of Missoula passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009. He was born February 22, 1965 in Butte, MT the son of Val and Alice (Sologub) Tibbetts.
Todd moved with his parents to Hamilton in 1967. After graduating from high school he attended North Idaho College in Coeur d' Alene, ID for a year and a half. His college career was temporarily interrupted when he sustained a neck injury in an automobile accident causing quadriplegia. He then moved to Juneau, AK with his parents in 1988. Todd became independent in his own apartment and eventually bought a car. Todd earned his Business Degree from the University of Alaska Southeast.
While in Juneau he worked part time as an interpreter for the US Forest Service. His duties included talks on the Mendenhall Glacier and the Alaska Marine Highway (Ferry) System. Todd was accepted to graduate school at Utah State University in Logan, UT and received his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture in 2000. Todd moved to Missoula and worked briefly for the US Forest Service until he had to quit for health reasons.
Todd was a good fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing for Salmon on his dad's boat. He also enjoyed hunting and bagged a big horn sheep in 1988. Todd loved plants and flowers and he helped landscape his parent's yard. Todd was also one of the main contributors of the community garden at his apartment complex. He believed in organic gardening and using heirloom seed.
Todd is survived by his parents, Val and Alice Tibbetts of Hamilton; his brother, Grant Tibbetts of Missoula; his sisters, Tracy Tibbetts of Tuba City, AZ and Julie Tibbetts of South Pasadena, CA.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Christopher and Dana Reeve's Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, NJ 07078 or to the Alzheimer's association.
