Valerie Alice Eslinger

CORVALLIS - Valerie M Eslinger, age 93, went peacefully into the waiting arms of the Lord on November 18, 2016.  She will be treasured, missed and lovingly remembered by many.

Valerie was born on July 18, 1923 to Luther and Edyth Bryan in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri.

She met her husband, Ralph, at a dance hall while out with friends. She made him pursue her for quite some time even though she admits she knew from that first night that he was the one for her.  They were married on August 29, 1938 and were each other’s true loves from that moment on.  They were blessed with 6 children. Over the years, they had many adventures camping and fishing, moving homes across the country, and building a life together.

Valerie loved to garden and can, bake and make jelly and syrup, paint and quilt.   Many a beds and laps have been blessed with her quilts.  Up until her last moments, she could be found sitting at her sewing table working on a project for someone. She was always, always up for a good game of cards.

She is survived by her daughters Jane(Steve) McCulloch, Edie(Jack) Eklund, Ruth(Ed) Jones,

and Joyce(Mike) Hess as well as grandchildren Skip(Berta) Eslinger, Steve(Wendy) Eslinger, John(Dwana) Eslinger, Doug Eslinger, Andy(Shellaine) Eslinger, David Eslinger, Connie(Joe) Staudohar, Dusty(Theresea) Eslinger, Jerry(Kathy) McCulloch, Shellaine(Andy) Eslinger, Steve McCulloch, Rochelle McCulloch/Newell, Jack(Colleen) Jones, Darlene(Jeff) Haus, Ed(Kim) Jones, Don Jones, Jennifer(Greg)Bratcher, Melissa(Chuck) Wyland, Kimberly(Ryan) Schell, and Robert(Misato) Hess as well as many, many other treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Robert; her granddaughter, Sis; her son, Larry; her daughter in law, Myrna; and her husband, Ralph.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the Corvallis Cemetery.
