Our dear “Auntie Vera” left us on June 12th, while receiving hospice at Bee Hive Homes.
Vera Heckathorn Coleman was born in Ekalaka, Montana, in 1926, the sixth child of a family of 9 children. She moved with her family to the Bitterroot in 1940. While still in high school, she managed to juggle working for Citizens State Bank (now First Security) and keep up with her studies to graduate with the Corvallis class of 1944. Vera married the love of her life, Bill Coleman, in 1946 and they moved to Seattle where they owned and operated Odegaard Upholstery. Vera worked in the banking business for many years in Seattle and later became Credit Manager for Murry B. Marsh Carpet Company.
Vera and Bill were married for sixty plus years and during this time they were very loving and generous to their many relatives. Their door was always open to help whether it be a trip to the “trick” store for the young ones or later a trip to or from the airport or Seattle Center for visitors welcomed to their home.
Vera moved back to Hamilton in 2016. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Congregation in Hamilton. Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents Frank and Lottie Heckathorn, sisters Leona, Catherine, Velma, Beverly, Alma, Janice, and brother Edward. She leaves behind her sister, Jane Roberts, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vera will be interred to join her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
Please join us for a Celebration of life to be held at B.J.s on June 28th at 4 p.m.
The family would like to give special thanks to Bee Hive Homes for their love and support
