Virginia L. Raymond

Virginia Lee (Barker) Raymond, 74 of Corvallis passed away peacefully Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St Patrick's Hospital in Missoula. She was born January 12, 1939 in Fairfield, Iowa, the oldest daughter of the late Robert E Barker, Sr and Ruth M (Hillgren) Barker.

Virginia moved to the Bitterroot Valley with her parents at the age of four where she graduated from Darby High School in 1957. On May 8, 1960 she married Dennis L. Raymond of Hamilton in Darby. The couple made their home in Hamilton where she began raising her family. Virginia later worked as a Personal Care Attendant for West-Mont for 12 years in the Hamilton area.

Virginia was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed raising a large garden and spending her summers canning for her family. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family where she hosted many family summers and holidays.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Dennis in 2004 and grandson Robert Colley in 1983.

She is survived by her four children, Julie Colley of Hamilton, Mary Clark, Robert and David all of Corvallis; brother, Ron(Butch) and sisters Margaret Mason of Corvallis and Lorraine Fries of Hamilton and brother Robert, Jr of Darby; five grandchildren, Krystal, Shane and Autumn Colley of Hamilton, Lindsay and Matthew Raymond of Corvallis; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her five grandchildren, and Robert Barker. Honorary pallbearers are Tad Barker, Rusty Raymond and Adam Raymond.

Visitations will be held Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with Pastor Jim Andrusky officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton with a potluck reception immediately following at the Remington in Hamilton.

The family would suggest that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
