Virginia LaRose (Rose) Spencer went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Center in Hamilton.
She was born December 6, 1922 to Warren S. and Effie Rogers at New Plymouth, Payette County, Idaho. She grew up in the Treasure Valley of Oregon and later moved to North Carolina, graduating from high school. She completed further education in Greensboro, North Carolina, finishing in Boise, Idaho. in business. She worked as a cost accountant in Oregon and as a Church Secretary in a Presbyterian Church in California.
She was married on May 27, 1945 to Marshall Spencer in Ogden, Utah. They moved to numerous places in Montana, Idaho, Wisconsin, Washington D.C. and California. They moved to Montana following Marshall's retirement from the US Forest Service and resided near Corvallis, until moving to Hamilton in 2006. She spent many hours volunteering as a Campfire Horizon Club Advisor, Cub Scouts, Church, schools, nursing home, hospitals, The Ravalli County Museum, and The Hamilton Senior Center. She served as a Deacon in the Hamilton Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years of marriage, son, James; her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Surviving are daughter, Betty Spencer; son, Russel (Kay) and their sons, Christopher and Jacob; grandson, Shane; Sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hurn, Sybil Johnson and Shirley Thomas; as well as many nieces; Jeanie Neese (Bob), Carole Ann Baldwin, Lois Phillips (Gary), Marcia Bajuk (Greg); nephews, Bill Reed, Darryl Dixon (Mary), Tom Rogers (Carole), Steve Rogers, Roy Rogers (Terri) and their families.
As she challenged many adversities, her faith was strengthened by knowing that the Lord was always with her, plus the love from family and friends. She always believed that the Lord would come for her when it was time. This has been done. Please remember her with that love that she has received from so many. Memorials may be sent to The Presbyterian Church, The Hamilton Senior Center, and The Marcus Daly Hospice Endowment Fund.
