Walt was born and raised in Chinook, Mt. where he learned his strong work ethic that he held all his life. When he completed his schooling and ranching he worked in construction, served in the Army during World War II, and moved to Missoula, then Fairbanks, Alaska where he resided 37 years. He worked as a contractor, carpenter and glazier even working on the construction of the Alaska Pipeline.

Walt loved riding his horses so much that he competed in many Competitive and Endurance trail rides in Alaska and completed the California Tevis 100 mile competition twice; at 70 and 76 years of age.

In 1993, Walt and Bobbie moved to the majestic Bitter Root Valley where they enjoyed their many friends and riding the beautiful trails with and without the Back Country Horsemen.

Surviving Walt are his wife, Bobbie, daughter Alphie Liming, grandchildren Kevin, Chris and wife Jolene, Kim and two great granddaughters, all of California; stepson Lane and stepdaughters Mary Beth and Nicki all who live in the Southeast.

Memorial Services will be at Daly-Leach Chapel and Mortuary Saturday, November 5, 2011, 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Walt's name.
