Wayne Raymond Knight

Wayne Raymond Knight, age 64, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on March 30, 2023.

He was born on August 18, 1958, to parents Benny Knight and Mary Knight in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Wayne grew up moving around as Navy kid, including a brief time in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He graduated from Tate High School in Pensacola, Florida before attending the University of West Florida where he graduated with a degree in finance and accounting. It was while attending UWF and working as a lab technician that he met his wife, Renee Knight, at West Florida Hospital. They were married on December 30, 1978, in Pace, Florida. Wayne spent the next 44 years building a career in hospital finance, including 21 years with HCA and 14 years with Ascension Health. Most recently, Wayne was at Bitterroot Health in Hamilton, Montana.   Wayne loved his St. Louis Cardinals baseball and LSU Tigers football. He was an avid reader and loved perusing a good bookstore for the right read.  He was an avid fly fisherman, conservationist, and outdoorsman. Whenever possible, Wayne would escape to a river to stalk a trout or two. He loved their three dogs, Rosie, Joey, and Teddy.

Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Benny Knight. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Renee Knight; daughter, Cyrena Knight; mother, Mary Knight; brother, Chris (Deb) Knight; sisters, Eileen (Scott) Mueller and Tiffany Knight, sister-in-law Lisa (Phil) Pridgen, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:30 am at Acton United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 am, prior to the service.
