William "Bill" Bickel

Hamilton - " William "Bill" D. Bickel, 89 of Hamilton passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
Bill was born in Massillon, Ohio on May 1, 1921 to the late Russel G. and Ola M. Weisgarber Bickel. He grew up in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School in 1939. In 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in a medical unit in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. He was discharged in 1945.
He attended Ohio University and graduated in 1949 with a B.S. in chemistry. In January 1948 he married Marjorie Cooper Howard. They headed west and worked in Laramie, WY, Grand Junction, CO and Grants, NM. He was transferred to Whitefish and worked at the new Anaconda Aluminum Plant in Columbia Falls. Later he moved to Hamilton and worked the last 20 years of his career at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory.
He and Marjorie were divorced in 1969 and in 1971 he married Eleanor Harmon Bickel. His step-daughter, Linda Brandon and her family live in Havre, step-son Don Harmon and his family live in Turner, MT., brother, Clifford (Doris) Bickel of Prescott, AZ., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hamilton and an associate member of Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ.
