William "Wayne" Burgess

HAMILTON - William 'Wayne' Burgess, 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday 09/03/14 at 10:55 PM at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center due to congestive heart failure. He was born 9/13/30 in Stamp, AL to John Buford and Lillie Burgess.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Verna (Platt) Burgess of Hamilton, daughter, Carol (Bruce) Terry, Gilbert,AZ and his son Bradley (Jann), Hamilton,MT. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Angela Burgess, Hamilton, Christina Terry, Missoula, Aaron(Mara) Downing, Jacob Downing, Missoula, Shane (Cheryl) Terry, Mesa, AZ, Mark (Angela) Terry, San Tan Valley, AZ, Ashley (Carson) Svihl, Missoula, Jaime (Justin) Taylor, Missoula, Jordyn (Evan) Segal, Missoula, Hannah Higgins, Missoula and Ryan Higgins, Corvallis. 19 Gr Grandchildren and 9 Gr Gr Grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Audrey Berry, in Atlanta, GA.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1947 to 1954. He was a member of the Bagdad Shriners and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He retired from the Ravalli County road department and then spent many winters in Arizona. He loved gardening and the outdoors. He could stick a stick in the ground and actually grow a tree. He loved to play games and he was the best "Mr Fixit".
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and his oldest daughter, Barbara Hayes, Hamilton.
