Winifred B. "Winnie" Miller

November 26, 1930 — April 1, 2009

Winifred "Winnie" B. Miller, 78, of Hamilton passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Gordie, by her side after a 9 year battle with cancer. She was born November 26, 1930 in Axtell, KS to Dorothy McKinley and Thomas W. Robinson.

Winnie met Gordon Miller while working on the Alaskan Pipeline and they were married January 21, 1978 at their home in Hamilton, MT. She was the first female bull cook during the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline in Valdez, AK.

Winnie was a fiesty and spirited woman who loved life, her family, her friends and her animals. She worked hard all her life and her proudest accomplishment was her 9 children.

She is survived by her husband Gordon of Hamilton; 9 children, Marcy Lewis of Reno, NV, John Hasenkamp of Colton, WA, Vic Hasenkamp of Hamilton, Lorna Poetter of Scappoose, OR, Laura Oien of Cinebar, WA, Gene Hasenkamp of Scappoose, OR, Vern Hasenkamp of Carson City, NV, Sharon Printz of Missoula, MT and David Hasenkamp of Newberg, OR; and 2 step-daughters, Sandy Watterman of Rohnert Park, CA and Brenda Miller of Gaston, SC. Winnie was also blessed with 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her grandparents; and her granddaughter, Kari Hasenkamp.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Winnie's name to the Salvation Army.
