Winthrop "Win" Bleecker

January 9, 1927 — March 1, 2011

Winthrop Gilman Bleecker, Jr. was born January 9, 1927 in San Diego, CA.
He attended Coronado High School and after graduation joined the Navy, serving 2 1/2 years on the Cruiser USS Louisville in the South Pacific during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to California and attended Brooks Institute of photography in Santa Barbara, and later attended University of San Diego. For 35 years he worked for General Dynamics in their Convair division serving in several capacities in their Reliability and Quality Control department and was very active in our country's space program. He was often present at missile launchings at Cape Canaveral / Kennedy. After retirement, he and his wife built their permanent home in Hamilton and for many years enjoyed fly fishing, and riding their horses in the mountains. Win was an active member of the Bitterroot Back Country Horsemen.
On Tuesday, Mar 1, Win quietly passed to a well-deserved reward. His wife was with him during this peaceful transition- surrounded by the loving atmosphere of the Marcus Daly Hospice.
He is survived by his widow, Patricia Ladd Bleecker of Hamilton, a step-daughter, Judy Finster Bushnell of San Diego, CA. and a brother, James D. B1eecker of Rancho Santa Fe, CA.
There is to be no memorial service but the family invites friends to join them in support of a local humane organization currently doing so much good in the area - the Western Montana Equine Rescue, PO Box 1168, Corvallis, Montana, 59828.
