Billie Basnaw Obituary

HAMILTON - On Thursday, March 26, 2020, Billie Annette Basnaw, loving mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 72.  She was born February 24, 1948 in Hamilton to William and Loretta (Harrison) Smith of Darby.  Ann attended school in Darby and married Jack W. Copenhaver, together they had two children, Jackie and Guy Copenhaver.  Ann was widowed at an early age and later married Walter A. Basnaw who had a daughter, Pam Basnaw (Goodwin) from a previous marriage. Together Ann and Walt had a son, Jason Basnaw.  Years later they adopted Nichole Basnaw (Smith).

Ann and Walt were entrepreneurs running a number of businesses including The Homestead Bar and Cafe, contracting, construction and real estate.

Ann is survived by her sister, Judy Whitworth; her brother, Mike Smith; her children and their spouses, many grand kids, great-grand kids, nieces and nephews.

Ann opened her home to many children that were in need, she loved them all as her own and made a difference in their lives. They all called her "MOM".

Ann was fun loving, feisty, and the strongest woman any of us ever knew. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A graveside family service was held on Sunday, March, 29, 2020 at Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
