Carolin Lee (Gazaway) Canen

HAMILTON - Carolin Lee (Gazaway) Canen was born to Floyd and Corinne Gazaway on August 2, 1944, in Madera, CA. Just 99 days after her husband of 57 years entered heaven, she entered the Lord Jesus’s arms peacefully in her sleep on April 30, 2023, at Aaron’s Place in Corvallis, MT.

Carolin was the middle of three siblings. She lived in Madera, CA, in the home her father built by hand. While in high school, she had a pen pal, LeRoy Canen, whom she regularly wrote for many years. Eventually they met, fell in love, and on July 31, 1965, they married in Carolin’s family home in Madera, CA. Carolin and LeRoy had two children, Lisa and Robert.  Carolin loved being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom all her married life.

Carolin and LeRoy lived in Visalia, CA and Madera, CA, before moving to LeRoy’s hometown, Glasgow, MT, in 1984. In the early 2000’s they moved to Hamilton, MT to be closer to their daughter and her family. For the past few months, she has resided at Aaron’s Place in Corvallis, MT while recuperating from a broken hip.

Carolin’s faith in Jesus Christ was very important to her as was attending church whether in person or online. She loved getting pictures of her children, grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and teaching her children to bake, especially at Christmastime. Carolin loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs. She babysat many children over the course of her life.

Carolin was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Corinne, older brother, Gary, her husband, LeRoy, and two infant grandsons. She leaves behind younger sister, Janet Morgan (Fresno, CA); daughter, Lisa (Jack) Stanford, (Darby, MT); son, Robert (Keylee) Canen (Glendive, MT); nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren plus one on the way, all residing in Montana.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Daly-Leach Chapel, Hamilton, MT. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
