Dale Lee Brady August 6, 1936 – May 10, 2021
Dale Lee Brady took Jesus’s hand 90 minutes before his 63rd wedding anniversary. He was born the 13th child of Evert and Myrtle Brady in Winnett, MT. A long Montana drought relocated his family to a farm near Fairfield where he attended local schools and graduated from FHS with music honors. Although his dream was to teach high school music, he trained and became a car man for the Great Northern Railway in Great Falls. After several lay-offs, he found his passion in retail grocery management in Great Falls, Kalispell, Corvallis and Hamilton where he owned and operated Main Street Market. Like his farm roots that shaped him, he always said, “once the grocery business gets in your blood, it never leaves.”
He married Clairice Forseth on Mother’s Day (5-11-1958) in Fairfield and together they raised three children: daughters Lynda Brady of Lacy WA, Lori (David) Swenson of Helena, and son Nathan (Amanda) Brady of Hamilton. Two foster sons were part of their family for several years.
Dale loved kids; his own, 7 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters (Josie Stevens, Lily and Brooklyn Swenson, and 42 nieces and nephews. His 7 grands include Tyson Falk in Reno NV, Marysa (Alex) Stephens in Lacy WA, Ryan (Liz) Swenson of Helena, Nicholas (Kathryn) Swenson of Edmonds OK, Mariah Swenson soon to be of Minneapolis, Lucas and Jonah Brady of Hamilton. There were numerous soccer, tennis, baseball, music and school events, Campfire Girls and Boy Scout leadership, and church youth through the years and he was happy to be there for all of them. The family loved to camp and Benchmark, near Augusta, was his favorite place.
He loved his church and served wherever he was called, be it a few terms of council president or the janitor duties. He was presently serving Property and Grounds and he was a determined advocate of reconstructing the parking lot. That project will be completed this summer.
Dale loved his Lord. He always believed the Cursillo movement changed his life back in the 70s and he continued with that ministry for many years. He kept several devotionals and a Bible in the garage as well as Green Alley Tomato House in the backyard where he often prayed with background music always available for the plants.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant siblings, sisters, Rena Rhone, Eula Fehr, Leta Lutke, Doris Michaelson, and Irene Stengrimson; brothers, Eldon, Earl, and Roy Brady. He is descended from very early Irish/Scotch Americans and has a few famous uncles including Daniel Boone and Benjamin Franklin.
Dale is survived by his immediate family of 14, the nieces and nephews and two brothers, Alvy Brady (Mary) of Fairfield/Power, and Lyall Brady (Joan) of Pingree Id.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Dale at Faith Lutheran Church on Monday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 171 Lewis Lane, Hamilton. Memorials can be sent to Faith Lutheran Church Parking Lot or ministries of your own choice.
