Dale Clyde Clute, 82, of Drummond passed away October 19, 2023, at his family’s home in Hamilton, Montana, with his wife, Flora, by his side.
Dale was born December 7, 1940, in Deer Lodge, Montana, to parents, Gladys Marie (Clawson) and Raymond Hollister Clute. Dale was raised in Drummond, Montana, along with his brothers, Harold Sr., Keith, Wayne, and sister, Marjorie.
Dale attended Drummond High School and began working for the railroad at a young age. He married Sharon Tollefson and together they welcomed daughters, Sherry and Barbara. Dale later was remarried to Lorene Kendall and welcomed a daughter, Bonnie Jo. After retiring from the railroad, Dale worked many years for the Wallace Ranch. He enjoyed his work on the Wallace Ranch as it allowed him to work outdoors.
He was an excellent hunter, trapper, trap shooter, and fisherman. He spent much of his time in the hills and mountains surrounding Drummond and knew all the roads and trails forwards and backwards. He enjoyed sharing his favorite spots with family while taking them hunting, camping, and on rides in the hills. Dale was an exceptional uncle to Flora’s sons, Harold Jr, Brett, Clint and daughter, Margie. In his later years, Dale adopted a feral cat that multiplied to many, many cats. He enjoyed taking care of his wild cat family & even had a big wild cat take refuge on his property this past spring. Dale will be remembered for his quiet, calm nature, sense of humor, and his deep connection with animals and nature.
Dale is survived by his wife of 30 years, Flora Clute; daughter Sherry (Nick) Cayko; daughter Bonnie Jo (Daniel) Meier; brother Wayne (Jean) Clute; brother Keith (Sharon) Clute, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
