Daniel Shoemaker Obituary

Daniel J Shoemaker, 83 years old of Hamilton, MT passed away peacefully in his home while holding his wife's hand and surrounded by family on August 6, 2022. He was born Nov. 11, 1938 in Lock Haven, PA. He was the son of the late Gladys L Uffelman Shoemaker and the late Lawrence W Shoemaker. Also preceded in death by brothers Gerald and Sonny and Sister June. He spent his early childhood in Lock Haven PA.  His family later moved to Windsor where he graduated from Red Lion High School class of 1956.

In 1960 Dan met the love of his life in New York City. After only a 3-month courtship he married his wife of 61+ years Sally Jane Peters, Shoemaker. After honeymooning in a rustic cabin during PA, Archery hunting season, that truly set the tone for their life's experiences ahead. After Dan retired from Caterpillar Tractor in York, PA, Dan and Jane headed west to their favorite place, Hamilton, Montana. He then started Rocky Mountain Adventures where he got to share his love for the outdoors with their guests. Dan finished his work career in Mesa AZ where he also retired from Boeing.

It is so very hard to sum up such a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. Dan's biggest passion was his family. To those who knew him would agree he was full of shenanigans and wit. He shared his love for the outdoors & country music with all who came in contact with him. If he wasn't sharing hilarious stories, he was serenading you with his guitar! Dan was a life member of the NRA.

Dan is survived by his wife Sally Jane Shoemaker and their 3 daughters, Cathy Shoemaker & Luc Corbel of Vancouver, BC, Tracy Holliday of Hamilton, Mt, Dana & John Hatchell of Altus, OK. Sister Juanita & Bruce Gergen of McClure, PA. Five Grandsons, Ryan Flinchbaugh of York, PA, Shea Wilt of Etters, PA, Colby Hatchell Active-Duty U.S. Air Force JBLM WA (wife Kayla Active Duty US Air Force JBLM WA) Cameron Hatchell Active Duty US Air Force JBER AK, Tucker Holliday Active Duty US Army JBLM WA. 1 Granddaughter, Cassidy Holliday of Hamilton, MT.  Three Great Grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
