HAMILTON – Darlene L. (Gray) Huseby, 87, of Hamilton passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023 at her residence in the Remington Memory Care. She was born March 3, 1936 in Dickenson, ND the daughter of Alonzo and Muriel Gray.
Darlene was brought up to care for her family and friends, nursing was her calling at a young age. She helped care for her father alongside her mother at the age of 10 until his passing. Darlene then helped raise her siblings until she graduated from Wibaux County High School on May 20, 1954. She then graduated from Miles City Presentation School on Nursing and started doing public health nursing for Wibaux County.
Darlene married James Wilmer Huseby of Circle, MT on Oct. 20, 1961 and together they had 3 sons and a daughter. Wherever they moved she continued her career as a Registered Nurse giving care to anyone that needed her help. Darlene worked in the Circle Hospital where she cared for patients in the emergency room ranging from serious accidents, sick or delivering babies.
When the family moved to Hamilton, she became the Director of Nursing at Valley View Care Center. Darlene retired in 2001 from the County Nursing Home in Helena. Even after retiring her caring and compassion to care for people never stopped. Darlene would travel and care for family and friends if they needed assistance.
Eventually Darlene moved back to Hamilton in 2007 and back to St. Francis Catholic Church where she raised her 4 children. She was part of the Share and Care at the church, and she loved visiting with people at the church functions.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo Gray and Muriel (Gray) Job; her stepfather, Leonard Job; 2 brothers, Dennis Gray and Bernie Job; and a sister, Shirley (Job) Gunlach. She is survived by her 3 sons, Brent Huseby and wife Donna of Hamilton, Brian Huseby and wife Dana of Florence and Kirk Huseby and wife Noani of Woodside; daughter, Shelley Moderie and husband Shane of Hamilton; 2 sisters, Marilyn "Tootie" Weyer of Minot, ND and Claudia Bakken of Wibaux, MT; her sister-in-law, Vivian Gray of Helena; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 5:00 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Catholic Church with a reception following in the Pastor Life Center. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Weyer, Dennis Gray, Ray Huseby and Leif Bakken.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Darlene’s name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Hamilton.
