David "Dave" McFadden Obituary

Corvallis - David “Dave” James McFadden, 81 of Corvallis, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24th, 2023.

Dave was born July 26, 1941, in Hartington, Nebraska, to Thomas and Louise (Schwartz) McFadden. Dave had a wonderful big family which included his siblings: Viola (Oly), Rose, Tom, Bob and Leanna. He attended St. Patrick’s High School in Sydney, Nebraska, where he played football, basketball and ran track.

Dave later ventured to Denver, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Martha Jane Randolph.

Dave and Martha were married on November 18, 1962, in Davenport, Iowa. They then welcomed their 3 children; David Jr., Gregory, and Melissa while residing in Davenport for several years.

The McFadden family eventually settled in Arvada, Colorado, where Dave worked for Amick North American Moving Company until his early retirement. Dave retired early so that he could care for his wife, Martha and her serious health care needs. The couple moved to Hemet, California in hopes of improving Martha’s quality of life. A blessing in the move was being closer to Martha’s brother, Jeff, and his family. When Martha’s health would allow, Dave and Martha loved travelling and camping together.

Sadly, Martha passed away November 29, 1999.

Dave then relocated back to Colorado to be closer to his son David, daughter in-law Judy and their girls. He enjoyed making trips to Pueblo to visit his sister, Rose, brother-in-law, Joe, and their family. He moved for a short time to Ogallala, Nebraska, where he was able to spend quality time with his sister Leanna and her husband Terry.

Dave loved spending time playing poker with his lifelong friend Rod and many hours playing dominos and dining out with his dear friend Ellen.

In 2016, Dave moved to the Bitterroot Valley to be close to his son, Greg and wife, Shannon.

There he enjoyed many fishing and camping trips, a few evenings at his favorite casino, playing dominos and many meals and Sunday football with Greg and Shannon. If he could eat Shannon’s meatloaf every night….he would have!

Dave enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to spend several winters in warmer weather with his daughter Melissa and her husband Sam which he enjoyed very much.

Dave was an avid Denver Broncos fan and a wishful Nebraska Corn Huskers fan.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his love, Martha; brothers, Tom and Bob; and sisters, Viola  and Rose.

He is survived by his children, David (Judy) of Colorado, Greg (Shannon) of Montana, and Melissa (Sam) Engelhard of Nevada; sister, Leanna (Terry) Kramer, of Nebraska; 8 grandchildren: Jason, Amanda, Chelsea, Ashley, Briauna, Caleb, Halie, and Nathan; 3 great grandchildren: Miles, Sienna and Martha; and numerous nieces and nephews that all loved “Uncle Dave” so very much!

A celebration of his life to follow this summer at his beloved Indian Mountain Property in Fairplay, Colorado that he shared many joyful times at with his wife and family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
